Employers
Employers that make an effort to improve their employees' working condition do not and should not go unnoticed.
Best Workplaces for Commuterssm is a national public-private partnership established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Best Workplaces recognizes employers who provide commuter benefits that attain the National Standard of Excellence.
Dell, Best Buy, Apple, Walt Disney, and even Hillsborough County (Florida) have been recognized as Best Workplaces for Commuters. These employers have found ways to address sparse or overpriced parking, mitigate traffic congestion, improve employee recruiting and retention, and eliminate air-born pollutants generated by their employees.
If only half of all US employees worked for Best Workplaces for Commuters, 15 million cars would be removed from the road each day.
To qualify as a Best Workplaces for Commuterssm employers must provide one primary benefit and three secondary benefits (see graphic below). Best Workplaces for Commuters must also offer access to a Guaranteed Ride Home or Emergency Ride Home Program.
