Commuter Services of North Florida

Public Transit

Public transit is a convenient, money-saving option for many area residents, and it allows you to use your commuting time on something other than driving. Public transit also moves more people in fewer vehicles and with fewer miles which reduces air pollution, traffic congestion, and the need for new roads. Here are the transit options currently available for work commuters in the Tallahassee area.

StarMetro

StarMetro is Tallahassee’s public transit system and offers service throughout the city on 35 routes, plus 12 additional routes serving the FSU and FAMU campuses. One-way trip fares are just $1.25 with free transfers. Senior citizens, children, and disabled individuals pay a reduced fare of $.60 with proper ID. StarMetro also offers a variety of unlimited transit passes that will save you even more money. FSU and TCC students ride all city buses free all the time. Visit StarMetro’s web site for additional information.

Gadsden Express

The Gadsden Express is a joint venture between Gadsden County, the Florida Department of Transportation, StarMetro, Commuter Services of North Florida, and the Capital Region Transportation Planning Agency. The service is operated by Big Bend Transit.

The Gadsden Express provides express service between Quincy and Tallahassee with stops in Midway and TCC for only $1/ride. 20 and 40-ride passes are also available to help you save even more money. For route and schedule information, download the program brochure or contact Commuter Services at 1-888-454-RIDE.

Guaranteed Ride Home Program

If you use public transit (or any other alternative commute mode) to commute to work three or more days each week you’re eligible for our Guaranteed Ride Home Program. Find out how to get a voucher for a free taxi ride home to be used when your normal commute pattern is unexpectedly interrupted.
