Carpooling is often the most popular commute option. Not only is carpooling an environmentally friendly alternative to driving alone, it allows co-workers and neighbors to share the cost of traveling to and from work.

Even if you carpool only a few days a week, you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars each year in reduced fuel and maintenance costs. And with fuel prices hovering near $3/gallon, now could be the best time to start.

Commuter Services of North Florida helps Big Bend commuters organize carpools through its computerized ridematching service. The Ridematch Request service is free and easy to use. Through it, we can help you locate neighbors and co-workers with whom you can potentially carpool or vanpool.

When you submit a ridematch request form, you will receive a matchlist from Commuter Services within 3 business days. This list will contain the names and contact information of other commuters who have similar commutes. You can then decide who you would like to pool with and how often. If a compatible match isn’t found, check back periodically to see if any new matches have been generated or contact a Customer Service rep by calling 888-454-RIDE.

Don't forget that you can also use your matchlist to find riders to join an exsiting carpool.

Once you start pooling, you will qualify for Commuter Services' Guaranteed Ride Home Program -- a cost-free service that provides a cab ride when you are unable to use your normal mode of transportation.
