If you could carpool to work, would you? You know the benefits. It saves gas money and reduces wear and tear on your vehicle. Carpooling also helps save the environment because there are fewer vehicles on the road releasing emissions. It’s true that many carpools require that you take a turn driving, and perhaps you consider that to be a downside.

What if there were a ride share program that you could join without involving your personal vehicle, meaning you would never have to do any driving? The Rural Vanpool Assistance Program might be a great fit for you. By taking advantage of this program as a start-up employment commuter, with your trip originating or ending in a rural county, your vanpool can save up to 60% of the operational cost. The Department of Transportation is offering Federal stimulus dollars to cover 60% of the operational cost. This is a huge savings!

In addition, anyone traveling to work by vanpool at least three days a week is automatically eligible for our Emergency Ride Home Program.

For more information on how to get started visit our Vanpooling page or call 1-800-454-7433.

If you commute more than 40 miles a day to get to and from work, vanpooling may be a great commuting option to consider. Vanpooling can reduce your annual commuting costs by 75% or more, and if you live in Wakulla, Gadsden, Jefferson, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Calhoun, Franklin, or Jackson counties, you can save even more.

Through a special program for rural county residents in Florida, the Florida Department of Transportation is offsetting monthly operational costs for vehicle lease, insurance, maintenance and fuel by 60%.

The Vanpooling page on our website contains more information about this program.
