If you could carpool to work, would you? You know the benefits. It saves gas money and reduces wear and tear on your vehicle. Carpooling also helps save the environment because there are fewer vehicles on the road releasing emissions. It’s true that many carpools require that you take a turn driving, and perhaps you consider that to be a downside.
What if there were a ride share program that you could join without involving your personal vehicle, meaning you would never have to do any driving? The Rural Vanpool Assistance Program might be a great fit for you. By taking advantage of this program as a start-up employment commuter, with your trip originating or ending in a rural county, your vanpool can save up to 60% of the operational cost. The Department of Transportation is offering Federal stimulus dollars to cover 60% of the operational cost. This is a huge savings!
In addition, anyone traveling to work by vanpool at least three days a week is automatically eligible for our Emergency Ride Home Program.

Stress, stress, stress!!! There’s way too much of it, we all have it, and it can even be contagious. Why not eliminate as much of it as possible when we are able?
Did you know that telecommuting can improve your health by reducing stress related to compromises made between family and work? In the article Ten Advantages to Telecommuting Richard P. Johnson highlights these benefits:
The stress associated with commuting back and forth to work away from the home is real, and telecommuting offers a renewed opportunity for workers to rediscover the joys of working from their homes. This is a rediscovery, because centuries ago it was commonplace for ‘cottage industries’ to exist where work was produced in ones home, often times incorporating the talents of the entire family in producing a product. With advanced telecommunications technology a large segment of our workers can return to this mode of ‘work-at-home’ productivity not compromising either their family living or their job productivity.
